The New 2021 Season Begins!

New Members Always Welcome.

After a difficult year, all bodes well for a busy season ahead at Kirktonhill Tennis Club.

Whilst some COVID-19 restrictions do remain in place, the return to the courts has been welcomed by everyone, young and old.  The club was well supported by members last year and is ready to welcome everyone back in the coming weeks.  Newcomers are particularly welcome to come along and give tennis a try.   No previous experience required!

Membership fees for the season (April 2021 – March 2022)  remain largely unchanged from last year so that is good news for everyone.  Even better is the fact that we have reduced the Individual Junior annual fee from £50 to £30 (for ages 11 and under) and the Parent/Child rate has dropped from £70 to £50.

More details can be found on the form: Registration Form 2021.

Our long-standing coach, Douglas Mackechnie, has stepped down from the coaching role but we are pleased to be able to welcome a new coach, Iona Amos, who comes with 8 years of coaching experience at several other clubs.  She is supported by Danielle Gordon and Stephane Bouchard.

Junior coaching begins on Saturday 27th March and will run through the spring and summer months.

Group 2:      11am - 12noon for ages 9-12

Group 3:      12noon-1.00pm for ages 13+

Please Note that these age ranges are a general guide and our coach will decide on whether a child should move to a different group.

Cost Per Hourly Session:           £2.00 for club members aged 11 and under.

£3.00 for club members aged 12 and over.

Ground Improvements

Despite the lock-down there have been some noticeable ground improvements done the past year. These include the removal of trees in a neighbouring garden which means that courts 2 and 3 will be dryer, brighter and clear of leaves etc for the long-term future.  That will make a vast difference for everyone playing on these courts.

The old club house has been repaired and re-painted to ensure that it remains wind and water-tight; a new fence has been erected and grass turfs laid  - both of which greatly enhance the approach to the gate and club house.

The 50/50 CLUB

The 50/50 Club raises over £1,200 per year for the tennis club and has proved invaluable in helping fund ground and general maintenance improvements.  It costs only £5.00 per month (by standing order) with half the total going on prizes and the other half helping to the club. The more people who take part, the bigger the prizes so if you would like to get involved, please contact Fiona, Karen or a member of the committee.

After the postponement of West of Scotland league fixtures last year, the club is looking forward to competing against other clubs in the 2021 Summer Doubles leagues.

The club has one Ladies team who compete in Division 3 and, for the first time in many yearswe will have two Gents teams taking part.

Good Luck to all of our teams!
